James Glover - Projects - Eads Residence

James Glover - Projects - Eads Residence

Get a load of this Spanish Style Ranch Home. I love architecture! I love Spanish style but have never incorporated anything like it into my home. I am watching HGTV and they are renovating a Spanish renovation. It is just incredible. I had to look at some on the internet. The one I am fixated on is the posted one. I really love the vent over the stove but think that the beams land odd on it. I also love the view! That view takes you right to the windows!

Storm Drain Art: 20 Artworks from Brazil - Oddee.com

Storm Drain Art: 20 Artworks from Brazil - Oddee.com

Just goes to show you how clever minds can turn anything into a work of art!

My Sunday Randomness Post...

Lately I have had a fascination with birds and birds nests. I haven't always and didn't actually notice until I was ut at the Metrolina Expo with my friend Kathy & she pointed out that I always like birds. I hadn't knowingly pointed them out like I would a frog. My favorite birds are chickens, blue jays and the tiny ones that build a nest out front every year (I think a finch). I also like words. Inspirational, descriptive and artistic words. I made this piece in a tiny book just as an itty bitty mixed media. I had seen one similar once on the internet or at a gallery and just decided to do my own version. I think it turned out pretty cute. You can't really tell but it is a bit sparkly around the words and on the eggs.

Subjects for Card Making

1. MUSICAL CARD: What is your favorite song? Create a mosaic type card front based on the lyrics from your favorite song. It will be like a pretty, still video for the card. If your favorite song was "Caribbean Queen" what do you think that would look like? If the title is not easy to interpret you may need to look up the lrics if you don't know them well to dig for inspiration. Look online...Type your song name and follow that with lyrics.

2. GIFT CARD: In addition to a card include a gift in the card either on the front or inside. It can be a paper gift or whatever else you think will make a cute small gift. You then should create your card with that gift as the inspiration.

3. COLOR CARD: Your favorite color & shape (You could choose pink & then choose circle...Your card would probably end up having a bubble gum theme) (If you chose green and square I am thinking patches of grass or a yard) elaborate on the color/shape idea.

4. RECYCLED CARD: Use something other than an actual card or cardstock as the base of your card. (Kraft Mac & Cheese, cereal box, Pringles can, lids from different products, etc...)

5. TEXT CARD: Use a page from a book, text from a magazine or something you print from your computer...The key being the words included in the card. It can be shaped, cute out, torn or just used as the back ground.

6. HEAD WEAR CARD: Hat's (I love hats. Don't youo love hats? I never wear hats but I thought a card with a hat would look cute...Father's Day, Father's Birthday, Grandfather, President's Day, Kid's birthday you know cowboys, Graduation)

7. ART CARD: Andy Warhol (If you are not familiar with his work look it up & interpret it to fit into your card. It will have a flair of you crossed with Andy Warhol. Maybe it will be your 15 min. of fame)

8. CARD DRAW: Hand draw a good portion of your card in any medium you choose.

9. FREE STYLE CARD: Free Style a card for a Birthday or what ever holiday may be coming up.

10. POLAROID CARD: Make the front look like a Polaroid picture but of what? You choose what it is of!

11. PHOTO CARD: Take a beautiful photo, print it smaller than the card size you choose to do. Paste to the front of a blank card with no other embellishment. Beauty in simplicity! Title it & sign below the photo. Here is the catch...the photo must be of an old piece of architecture in your area. It can be the whole building or part of it. It can be a house, commercial building or even a different sort of structure such as a bridge. You are an artist!

12. ONE INCH CARD: Inchies...Are y'all familiar with inchies? They are 1" x 1" pieces of art that are created and used in different pieces of art or just stand alone. I think that they look cute in groups. Create inchies to place on your card. Each one should be of something you love. This should be a cute challenge. (The card itself can be any size you like.)

13. Sun, Moon & Stars (Because it is pretty!)14. MEMORY/STORY CARD: Use a memory from your childhood to create a card. On the back of the card please inclue your story and sign it.

15. QUOTE CARD: Choose a quote and design your card around it. (Can be looked up on line, made up or something your family says, cute kid sayings are good)

16. WORD CARD: What is your favorite word? Come on, keep it clean...Now use that word as your inspiration to create your card and use the word on the card. My favorite word is "Haberdasher"(not really) but if it were I'd do a card that had the word and then perhaps a mannequin with a dress on it or some spools of thread or even a mens three piece suit.

17. ANIMAL CARD: Your pet...Either a current pet, a pet from your past or a pet you wish you had. Maybe you dream of owning a hedgehog or sugar glider. You could make a really cute card with your fantasy pet. :) If it is a past pet you could do your pet as an angel with a halo. It would be like a memorial card.

18. ACCORDION CARD: An accordion card...Not literally a card with an accordion on it rather a card folded like an accordion, like when you were a kida nd made a fan. This card would be a great card to add photos, journal and draw. It can be super artistic because you are creating many faces of the card. Really think about this one...It could be soooooo....cool!

19. TAG CARD: The card could hold tags, be made of tags, be the shape of a tag, have tags as it's embellishments, could be all of that together.

20. FOREIGN CARD-ENCY: This one will be about your fantasy vacation destination. It can be any shape, size, color, etc...BUT it should not have the name of the vacation destination on the card so the rest of us can guess the destination.

21. RECIPE CARD: Make your card with a recipe on it or in it. It should look like it is designed around the recipe. You could add the items used to make the recipe or a picture of the finished product.

If you use any of these ideas and post your card on your blog please link back to my blog so others can use the ideas!
The lamp with the painted lamp shade was a recent find of mine. I found it at Marshall's BUT here is the kicker...I didn't buy it. That's right! I didn't buy it! I hate when that happens. I rarely have a moment like that. You find something you really like and don't buy it. Rarely do I REALLY like something this much either. I suppose I could get a white lampshade and paint it with some cool flowers like this one. Maybe I will.... In fact I have a lamp I recently purchase for the top of the armoire in the living room. I could paint that shade. If I do I will post it. I nevere really thought to paint a lamp shade. How should I do it? Just like this one or my own design. My shade is a little different in shape, smaller at the top and larger at the bottom. Anyone in Blogland paint a lampshade before? If so do you have any pointers for how to do it so it doesn't run down the sides Maybe just really thick paint, control and a prayer?!?!?!?!

Doors

Doors...It seems like such an overlooked item. You use doors everyday, probably way more than you even think about. You just open it and enter your destination. I guess I just enter and head off to my destination just like you. I never really notice them or care what they look like until I run into one that is beautiful, colorful, shaped unusual, excessively heavy or even one that seems to be in disrepair. Most people would say this is the door in disrepair but I think this door is so beautiful. I have a large amount of photos that are just doors. This is my favorite. The funny thing about it is it says in black marker printed 'door in progress'. I personally think it is perfect and just needs a coat of sealer to finish it off. This door was in Balboa Park in San Diego. I felt fortunate to get this photo before they 'finished it'. I would eventually like to have a series of cards, prints or some project with the doors on them.
"Beauty in the overlooked" is what I think this photo's title should be. I am sure you will see more of my doors on here in the future. They are a kind of collecton.

Mullet

This is the craziest Mullet I have ever seen. I tried to get up with the driver to see if he had one but never found out. I look for it around town to see & I will for sure post a photo of the driver if I see him. BUT Wouldn't you have expected to see this on an 80's Z-28 or Camaro? This is the kind of thing I love to see. Random Stupidity!
